SUSTAINABILITY – Take The Pledge

WHY SHINGLE RECYCLING?

The United States produces an average of 8.8 million tons of roofing construction and demolition-related waste annually from roofing manufacturers and roof demolitions.

Since asphalt shingles take a long time to fully decompose and the volume of asphalt shingle waste produced is so high, it’s important that roofing companies and roofing manufacturers seek out viable shingle recycling methods to help offset their footprint.

Instead of throwing away, dumping, or burying old roofing shingles, we have taken a pledge to only disposing of our used and expired asphalt roofing materials at approved recycling centers throughout the bluegrass.

Not only does this reduce the environmental impact by not overfilling our landfills, but old asphalt roofing shingles can be ground up and reused for paving roadways and a variety of other useful applications.

How Shingle Recycling Works:

We’ve teamed up with all approved recycling facilities in our local areas that are equipped to recycle old roofing shingles.

Old roofing shingles are removed

Torn-off roofing shingles are removed from the structure and safely transported to appropriate recycling centers.

Shingle recycling center grinds up the old shingles

Shingles are processed and prepared for use in a variety of applications.

Recycled roof shingles are prepared for second use

Recycled material from old roof shingles can be used in several different applications, but is most commonly mixed with asphalt and used to pave roads.

SUSTAINABILITY – Take The Pledge

Big League Roofers is proud to have made a commitment to setting and achieving sustainability goals and continuing to expand upon those goals indefinitely into the future.  For us, sustainability is about meeting the needs of the present while leaving the world a better place for the future. We’ve come a long way on our sustainability journey, and we’re eager to continue our efforts. As we embark on our next set of long-term sustainability goals, we challenge our friends, families, and others in the roofing industry to do so as well and to seek out partnerships with others who do the same.
